The storage room was cramped, filled with towering metal shelves stacked with textbooks, binders, and forgotten supplies. It wasn’t meant to be a battleground of argument. It wasn’t meant to be the last place he’d ever stand on his own two feet.
Liam barely had time to react. A shove—hard, unexpected—sent him stumbling backward. His sneakers scraped against the tile, his arms flailed for balance, but the weight of the shelves loomed above him, teetering, groaning under their own burden. A second later, gravity won.
The crash was deafening. Steel and books and everything in between collapsed in a single, merciless motion. The pain didn’t register at first, only pressure—an unbearable weight pinning him down, stealing the breath from his lungs. He tried to move, but his legs… there was no feeling.
